Producers Guild supports Telangana's regulated ticket pricing framework
25% of theatre seats reserved for affordable non-premium tickets
Five daily shows permitted to benefit both big and small releases
Policy includes a welfare fund for cinema workers
The Active Telugu Film Producers Guild has publicly endorsed the Telangana government's latest cinema ticket policy, describing it as a positive move for the Telugu film industry. In a formal statement, the Guild praised the government order for introducing a regulated system that allows only eligible high-budget films to apply for ticket price hikes, with each request subject to government review. This approach, according to the Guild, replaces arbitrary increases with a transparent framework.
A significant aspect of the new policy is the requirement that all theatres—whether single screens, air-conditioned venues, special theatres, or multiplexes—must allocate 25 percent of their seats as non-premium, ensuring affordable ticket options for the general public. The Producers Guild highlighted this point, emphasizing that the rule will help keep cinema accessible to a broader audience even as the industry grows.
The Guild also welcomed the government's decision to permit five shows per day in theatres. They believe this measure will help major releases meet audience demand while also enabling smaller and medium-budget films to secure screen time more quickly, thus supporting a wider variety of releases in the market.
Additionally, the policy introduces a dedicated welfare fund for cinema workers. The Guild described this initiative as an important recognition of the workforce that supports the Telugu film industry behind the scenes. By addressing both industry growth and worker welfare, the Guild sees the new policy as a balanced step forward for Telugu cinema.
