Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj faces abrupt removal from ZEE5 just 48 hours after release
Diljit Dosanjh’s much-awaited film Satluj has become the centre of a new digital storm, vanishing from ZEE5 within just two days of its OTT debut. The film's sudden disappearance has left viewers and fans questioning the fate of one of the most controversial biopics in recent memory.
Satluj, directed by Honey Trehan, chronicles the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra and the dark, turbulent era of Punjab in the 1990s. The project, produced after a challenging journey, had already spent nearly four years entangled in a protracted certification dispute with the CBFC, which had reportedly demanded over 120 cuts. Diljit Dosanjh, who has recently been in the limelight for his work in both film and music, had asserted that he would not support a version with any cuts: "I would never have promoted the film if even a single cut had been made," he revealed.
The film's low-key release on July 3, 2026, was met with both excitement and relief among fans, only for it to be abruptly pulled from the platform, sparking heated debate and widespread social media chatter. ZEE5’s official confirmation of the removal has only intensified the controversy, with many demanding transparency over the decision.
As the dust settles, audiences remain eager to see whether Satluj will return to Indian streaming platforms or face further hurdles, keeping the spotlight firmly on this embattled film.
