Pawan Kalyan’s much-discussed action drama Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Ken Karunaas’s coming-of-age film Youth have both landed on Netflix, giving South Indian viewers an exciting double treat this weekend. The move comes as Netflix aims to bolster its regional content, catering to fans of both mass entertainers and youthful dramas.
Ustaad Bhagat Singh, directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, was initially released in theatres on March 19, 2026. Despite high expectations and the star power of Pawan Kalyan, the film struggled at the box office. Yet, Harish Shankar called it his best work and promoted it vigorously. In a notable shift, the director recently admitted at a public event that the film had underperformed, making its OTT debut even more significant.
Now streaming in five languages, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is under renewed scrutiny, with social media reactions already gaining momentum. The ensemble cast also features Sreeleela, Raashii Khanna, Parthiban, and Rao Ramesh, alongside music by Devi Sri Prasad and Thaman. Meanwhile, Youth, written and directed by Ken Karunaas, dives into the emotional world of adolescence, capturing the highs and lows of teenage life. Its authentic storytelling is already resonating with younger audiences.
With both films going live simultaneously, Netflix subscribers can now choose between high-octane action and heartfelt drama. Industry watchers are keen to see if the OTT platform can revive Ustaad Bhagat Singh’s fortunes or if Youth further strengthens Ken Karunaas’s reputation as a promising new filmmaker.
