Week three of IPL 2026 delivered high drama, dominant performances, and a shifting points table as the league enters its business end of the first half.
CSK Silence the Doubters, KKR Remain Winless
Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs on April 14. CSK spinner Noor Ahmad starred with a three-wicket haul, helping restrict KKR's chase. Chennai posted 192/5, powered by Sanju Samson (48), Dewald Brevis (41), and Ayush Mhatre (38), while KKR fell well short despite late efforts from Ramandeep Singh and Rovman Powell. The result was a lifeline for CSK, who had been misfiring early in the season. For KKR, the winless run continues to be a cause for serious concern.
RCB Storm to the Top
Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved to the top of the IPL 2026 leaderboard after a commanding win against Lucknow Super Giants on April 15. RCB's bowlers were excellent, bowling LSG out for just 146 runs. Rasikh Salam Dar led the way with four wickets, while veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar chipped in with three to dismantle the LSG lower order. In reply, Virat Kohli anchored the chase with a fluent 49, while skipper Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma added brisk contributions, guiding RCB to victory in just 15.1 overs. The defending champions look ominous.
Punjab Pulverise Mumbai
Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at Wankhede Stadium on April 16. Arshdeep Singh starred for the visitors as they handed the five-time champions a heavy loss — their fourth defeat in five games. Punjab remain the only undefeated team in IPL 2026, with Shreyas Iyer's side winning four of their five games and one washout against KKR. Their consistency is extraordinary, picking up right where they left off as last season's runners-up.
Green Shines for KKR, SRH Deny CSK
April 17 saw Gujarat Titans take on KKR in Ahmedabad, where Cameron Green — bought by KKR for ₹25.20 crore, the most expensive overseas player in IPL history — finally justified his price tag with a maiden IPL fifty. On April 18, a double-header weekend concluded dramatically. Sunrisers Hyderabad commanded their third win of the tournament, with Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen playing impactful knocks. SRH posted 195 and restricted Chennai Super Kings to 184, securing a 10-run victory. Klaasen's knock propelled him to the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard.
Table Talk
Punjab Kings sit at the summit, unbeaten and looking like genuine title contenders. Sunrisers Hyderabad are fourth with six points, while CSK have slipped to seventh after four defeats from six outings. Former champions KKR, MI, and CSK are all struggling, while RCB have made a robust start as defending champions.
With 28 matches done and the season's midpoint approaching, the race for the top four is wide open. Expect fireworks — and more chaos — in week four.
