Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has launched a sweeping ₹1 lakh crore economic blueprint targeting the transformation of Rayalaseema, with an emphasis on the Tirupati Economic Region. This ambitious plan comes as Naidu reasserts his focus on regional development following recent governance initiatives.
A highlight of this strategy is the model of growth seen in Lingala mandal, part of Pulivendula constituency, which has achieved a remarkable per capita income of about ₹7.3 lakh through horticulture. Naidu, during a high-level review, asked officials to "study Lingala’s success in horticulture and use it as a development model" for the larger region, noting its income surpasses many industrial areas despite Rayalaseema’s traditionally backward reputation.
The government’s proposal features a combination of ₹40,000 crore from the Purvodaya initiative and ₹60,000 crore in private investment, aiming to establish Rayalaseema as a global hub for horticulture and food processing. The plan covers nine districts, including Tirupati, Kadapa, and Chittoor, with a three-member committee set to draft a comprehensive development strategy. As part of the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision, the Tirupati Economic Region is projected to contribute $0.90 trillion to the state's $2.4 trillion economy.
Notably, Naidu announced that master plans for Amaravati and Tirupati regions will be made public for consultation before final approval. As these plans unfold, residents and investors alike are keen to see how Rayalaseema’s transformation story will take shape in the coming months.
