The Andhra Pradesh Assembly's monsoon session commenced today, launching a four-day stretch of legislative activity focused on major policy issues including DSC-2025, BC reservations in local bodies, and the Group-1 recruitment controversy. The session opened at 9 AM with Question Hour, followed by a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee led by Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu to finalize the session's schedule and topics.

Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh is set to address the House with a statement on DSC-2025, a topic drawing significant attention due to its impact on teacher recruitment. The agenda also includes discussions on irrigation, drinking water supply, and the effects of El Niño on the state's agriculture sector. Two bills are expected to be introduced on the first day: one proposing the withdrawal of the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Act-2019 and another seeking amendments to the Municipalities Act.

The second day will spotlight BC reservations in local bodies, with the State Cabinet scheduled to review the commission's report on the matter before it is debated in the Assembly. On day three, alleged irregularities in Group-1 recruitment during the previous YSRCP administration and the state's law and order situation will be examined.

The session will conclude with a focus on investments and the progress of the coalition government's Super-6 schemes. Notably, YSRCP MLAs are likely to be absent from the Assembly, shifting much of the opposition's engagement to the Legislative Council, where the party maintains a strong presence. The Assembly is also trialing a technology-driven attendance system for MLAs during this session.
